About the Role

As a Part Time System Administrator at Upswing, you will work with the team to help us keep everything running as reliably and efficiently as possible. You will be working closely with other development and product team members in order to help get you up to speed so that you can hit the ground running with our tech stack, development process, and knowledge of the product.


Responsibilities

  • Ensure proper security, monitoring, alerting and reporting for the infrastructure
  • Develop security monitoring and other tools to ensure the integrity and availability of our applications, server resources, reviewing system and application logs
  • Maintenance of servers including critical operating system or software updates  
  • Assist project teams with technical issues during development or deployment efforts
  • Monitor and report on infrastructure uptime and performance
  • Gather system requirements and support project teams in evolving, testing and rolling-out new products and services
  • Work with our team of software engineers to make improvements to current infrastructure 
  • Document processes and procedures and follow a formal change management procedure
  • Troubleshoot software errors by running diagnostics, documenting problems and resolutions, prioritizing problems, and assessing impact of issues


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's in Computer Science or Computer Information Systems  or equivalent work experience
  • 3-5 years of database, network administration, or system administration experience
  • At least 2 years of experience in supporting Google Cloud Compute Engine Infrastructure or similar IaaS
  • Understanding of the Agile software development methodology
  • Strong knowledge of operating systems and server software, firewalls, load balancers, and networking protocols
  • Experience with scripting and automation tools
  • A proven track record of developing and implementing IT strategy and plans
  • Experience working with a software development team
  • Passion for higher education and making a social impact
  • Ability to work independently and to self manage
